Decision INV‑24‑15: Inspector General confirms Peel Regional Police provided adequate and effective policing

An investigation was conducted into a complaint that Peel Regional Police (PRP) failed to properly investigate the alleged theft of money from a complainant’s residence.

After reviewing the evidence,  the Inspector General concluded that PRP complied with the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 and associated regulations. PRP ultimately assigned an investigator, who interviewed the complainant, attended the scene, checked for CCTV availability, and assessed items for forensic suitability. No evidence suitable for seizure or fingerprinting was found, and the investigation was closed in accordance with provincial investigative standards.

Outcome: PRP provided “adequate and effective” policing.
