Ottawa Police Service Board

Decision INV25-01: Inspector General Finds No Misconduct by Ottawa Police Board Member

The Inspector General of Policing has completed an investigation into allegations against Ottawa Police Service Board member Cathy Curry. The complaint claimed Ms. Curry ignored concerns raised by a member of the public.

After reviewing the evidence, the Inspector General found no misconduct under Ontario's Code of Conduct for Police Service Board Members. The Inspector General noted that Ms. Curry responded promptly and professionally, clearing explaining the Board's governance role and directing the complainant to appropriate oversight bodies that may have had jurisdiction over their concerns. Her actions respected the boundaries between the Board, its staff, and police operations led by the chief of police.

Outcome: No breach of the Code of Conduct.
