Decision INV‑24‑30: Inspector General confirms Windsor Police Service complied with provincial policing requirements

An investigation examined whether the Windsor Police Service (WPS) failed to properly respond to a 911 noise complaint relating to disruptive neighbours.

After reviewing the evidence, the Inspector General found that WPS complied with the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019. The caller did not report any threat to safety, and the matter was appropriately treated as a municipal by-law issue. The call-taker provided alternative options, including filing a non‑emergency online complaint or contacting the City’s 311 service, consistent with provincial requirements for call‑taking and dispatch.

Outcome: WPS provided “adequate and effective” policing.
