Decision INV-24-19: Inspector General finds Ottawa Police Service provided adequate and effective policing in response to allegations of harassment and fraud

An investigation was conducted into a complaint alleging that the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) failed to adequately respond to allegations of gender-based violence, harassment, identity theft, and fraud involving the complainant's former partner. After reviewing the Findings Report, the Inspector General concluded that the OPS complied with the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 and its regulations and provided adequate and effective policing.

 

The Inspector General of Policing found that the OPS appropriately responded to the complainant's reports, documented and investigated the allegations, and took reasonable steps based on the information available.
